Birth and Upbringing<\/h2>\n

Suliman Al-Qassar was born in Dasma, Kuwait on 21st July 1960. He was only nineteen years old started his artistic career back in 1979. He developed a passion towards the authentic folkloric Kuwaiti music and songs. He discovered that he is talented in that genre; making him the star he is now in this type of music. His presence was greatly sensed in the folkloric music arena in Kuwait and in the Arabian Gulf.<\/p>\n

Suliman Al-Qassar excelled in performing various types of folklore arts such as Al Khamari, Al Ashouri (Al Radha art) and Al Samry \u2026 He sharpened his talent throughout more than 30 years of work, until he reached the throne of folklore songs in Kuwait, and formed a large base of audience and fans in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf states.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Al Qassar\u2019s Wedding Processions (Zaffa-t- Al-Qassar) Al-Qassar added a lot to the folkloric music and songs, especially Kuwaiti wedding processions, shortly after; his wedding procession became the basic demand of each bride. This is due to his diligence and determination to make his wedding procession an icon and a memorable experience that he gifts to the bride and groom on their wedding day.<\/p>\n

Suliman Al-Qassar developed the Kuwaiti wedding procession and Al-Dazza art, to which he added many poems and items, with a talented artistic format of folklore arts, a unique mix of the Kuwaiti and Arabian Gulf heritage which distinguished him from the remaining folklore bands and gave him a unique artistic mark.<\/p>\n

He took upon himself documenting and archiving this heritage of such beautiful arts by broadcasting many of them on TV, private and public parties.<\/p>\n

Suliman Al Qassar Suliman Al-Qassar is considered as a comprehensive art school and a dedicated educator for each student and fan of his art and performance. He never hesitates to share his experience and artistic career to the different researchers in heritage, as many artists, including for example Dr. Yaccoub Al Khoubaizi, Dr. Liza Arcofitch from the American University in Kuwait and the Theater Director Suliman Al-Bassam, as well as many students of the Higher Institute for Musical Arts.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n

Many folklore artists were schooled by Suliman Al Qassar, who was and is still a school for folklore art. He is keen to transfer his experience and knowledge to the new generations and teach them the principles and fundamentals of folkloric art. He always says \u201cthe elders were generous when they taught me this precious heritage when I was young. They supported me because they believed in my talent, love and passion towards this art. I cannot deny the favor of the late Oudah Al-Muhanna and her folklore band, and the late Amina Om Zayed and her band, as well as every other artist who contributed in forming and shaping my musical identity. Therefore, I feel committed to transfer this experience and my journey to the new generation to ensure sustaining this art from one generation to the other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Suliman Al-Qassar represents a unique school of art that combines both the Kuwaiti heritage and the Arabian Gulf arts. He managed through his school to inscribe his name in the hearts of his fans and the artists of this beautiful era of our lives.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Cooking is one of the hobbies that Suliman Al-Qassar was performing along with art. He did not realize that this hobby would become a career afterwards and will introduce him to another segment of fans.<\/p>\n

Since the 80s, Suliman developed a passion for travelling and exploring cultures, foods and all sorts of new and different things \u2026 In the 90s, he used to spend his summer vacations in the United States where he was introduced to the American \u201cFood Network\u201d Channel. Since then he started to feel passionate about all types of cooking Shows. This was triggered by his skills and his sensitive taste buds to all flflavors.<\/p>\n

He learned cooking fundamentals from his mother, grandmas and aunts and each Chef he happened to try their dishes. Suliman, by nature, likes to analyze things and see what it constitutes either in Art or Cooking. He is inquisitive and in a continuous search for knowledge and secrets to master what he is doing. While in the States, he got introduced to culinary shows which were both source of knowledge and an entertainment for him. He never thought even for a second that his past time hobby and passion would lead him to host his own cooking show \u201cFlavor & Spice with Al-Qassar\u201d (Nak-ha w Buhar Ma\u2019a Al-Qassar) TV Show.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In 2001, Suliman discussed with his brother Ahmed, graduate of the Media Department at Kuwait University, the idea of a TV Cooking Show hosting other artists from Kuwait. Through this Show, he wanted to say that cooking could be fun and not as the typical cooking programs of the Arab world. This idea was submitted to Kuwait TV, but was not welcomed and got rejected.<\/p>\n

Seven years later, Suliman started to appear as a guest in local Cooking Shows with Chef Hanouf Al-Balhan, TV presenter Hessa Al Loughany and Sabah El Watan Show where he started cooking and sharing his own recipes.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Suliman was hosted by Chef Adlah Al-sharhan in \u201cKashta\u201d TV Show; the episode was met with overwhelming success and resonance with viewers. Suliman was honored by the Program\u2019s Director Bader Al-Kandari who thanked him for the success of the episode and asked him if they work together on a cooking program in Ramadan!!<\/p>\n

At this point, the dream revived again and Suliman began preparing and researching the cuisine for recipes that can be prepared. The Director was astounded by the huge number of recipes Al-Qassar has. He was able to record three successful seasons of \u201cFlavor & Spice with Al-Qassar\u201d TV Show. Suliman Al-Qassar achieved fame and unexpected success in three years which he did not achieve in 30 years and touched the love of his fans.<\/p>\n

The show achieved the highest rate of TV viewing in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf and attracted different community segments. Suliman\u2019s name became attached with the month of Ramadan. He achieved consecutive successes for several years, attracting an audience from the Arab world. The production company was receiving calls from Iraq, Libya, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia placing inquiries about the ingredients of some recipes for their inability to understand the local Kuwaiti dialect.<\/p>\n

Kuwait TV reaped significant profits from advertisements through \u201cFlavor & Spice with Al-Qassar\u201d TV Shows where the number of advertisers exceeded the expected ceiling of advertisers in cooking TV Shows achieving a record of twenty-two advertisers in season three of the program.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In the year 2016, the artist Sulaiman Al-Qassar presented \u201cNaqsat Al-Qassar\u201d TV show. \u201cNaqsa\u201d is a popular term derived from the Arabic language which means cutting off part from your food and giving it to others. The new idea in this show was for sharing Al-Qassar\u2019s cooking with groups that might be overlooked by the community and not highlighted enough by media, so this subtraction is for them. He shared the episodes with Down syndrome patients, autistic children, the Association of the Blind and the Disabled Club. The cooking was for them and they were dear guests to Al-Qassar\u2019s delicious banquet, which showed different human aspects and a deep dimension; it was a touch of loyalty from Sulaiman Al-Qassar to a society he loves with all its details and categories.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

As you can see, the meeting with the Al-Qassar fans on TV has become a popular annual event that everyone eagerly awaits year after year for the fifth year in a row now. We therefore are more responsible to develop a new and innovative concept that is inspirational coupled with various recipes mixed with different flavors and styles from international cuisines, the Kuwaiti cuisine atop. In the new episodes, we hosted Sulaiman Al-Qassar and his savory creations in the kitchen. The recipes are prepared by an elite group of the guests of the show, who are prominent figures, society ladies, skilled professional cooks and creative housewives of different nationalities. The concept of the \u201cZwarat Al-Qassar\u201d TV show that was presented in 2017 will build on that legacy.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

After a year-long pause to rethink the type of programs and the way they are introduced and try to break the familiar, we opted to cooperate with Saudi SBC channel to present the program of Doha \u201cn\u201d Al-Qassar. This is a one-hour cooking show co-presented by the artist Sulaiman Al-Qassar and Saudi Chef Doha Al-Otaishan. It was a sweet and light duet who shared their novel experiences and fresh comparisons between the Kuwaiti and Saudi cuisines. Al-Qassar created innovative dishes inspired by Saudi cuisine. The show received much expected success and placed Al-Qassar again in the face of another challenge and a new competition that he promises the audience in the upcoming seasons.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The artist Suliman Al-Qassar managed to revive the identity of the Kuwaiti cuisine. He made people understand the secrets in a simple and professional way that led to people\u2019s appreciation of the Kuwaiti cuisine.The number of people seeking to pursue cooking career has increased among the Kuwaiti community segments after it was unfavorable profession and only few number of people take it as a career compared to the situation now.<\/p>\n

The name of his TV Show \u201cFlavor & Spice with Al-Qassar\u201d became the name of several restaurants in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf and became like a brand to attract people and tourists even though the artist Suliman Al-Qassar did not open his own restaurant yet. Rest assured dear reader that if the restaurant which Al-Qassar dreams of is yet come, it will create a new wave in the world of restaurants as usual and will become a phenomenon followed by many later on.<\/p>\n

Following pressing and growing demand from the loving audience of the artist Suleiman Al-Qassar, he decided to invest this success by introducing his own brand under his signature (Qassar). The brand includes a range of distinctive mixtures of spices, saffron, coffee, grains spices and food products carefully hand-picked and produced to reach the customers as a luxury commodity unlike any other at affordable and competitive prices amidst the food products market.
